Biography:
Thanos is a powerful villain from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He is a Titanian Eternal who seeks to bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all life.
In the MCU, Thanos first appears in a post-credits scene in *The Avengers* (2012) but his first full appearance is in *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014). He is driven by the belief that overpopulation will inevitably lead to resource depletion and societal collapse.
His goal in the MCU is to acquire all six Infinity Stones, which would grant him the power to reshape reality according to his will. He finally achieves this and wipes out half of all life, only to be defeated and killed by the Avengers in *Avengers: Endgame* (2019). Josh Brolin portrayed Thanos in the MCU.
